In the night of October 12, Russia struck energy and gas-transmission infrastructure facilities in three regions; later the enemy shelled a substation in the Kyiv region after the air-raid alert was lifted.

Representatives of the energy sector noted that some facilities sustained damage, but the country managed to respond promptly and minimize the impact on the population and industrial activity.

Analysts point to a growing need to strengthen the security of critical infrastructure and bolster defensive measures near key energy facilities to reduce risks in the future.
