Ukrainian Forces Eliminate Russian Lieutenant Colonel Anton Gavrin from Española Unit

As reported by Мілітарний.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated Anton Gavrin – a lieutenant colonel of the Russian unit “Española”, which had fought against Ukraine since 2014. The unit itself announced his death on its social networks.

Since 2015 Gavrin, known by the call sign “Pegasus”, fought on the side of the militants of the so-called LPR.

Having risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the “People’s Militia”, he completed his service in Russia with the rank of police major.

Circumstances of death and subsequent formation of the unit

Last year Gavrin joined the “Española”, where he was part of the engineer-sapper group.

The circumstances of his death have not been disclosed; he was buried in the Russian city of Orel.

As a reminder, the 88th Brigade “Española” was disbanded. Its naval and medical detachments were separated into independent formations, and the intelligence center “Melody” was transformed into a separate structure. On the basis of the brigade itself, several assault subunits were formed.

Gavrin presumably died during one of the attempts to assault Ukrainian positions.

The death of Anton Gavrin testifies to the complex processes of reorganizing Russian formations in the region and changes to their composition after the disbandment of individual units.
