As clarified by the Facebook page of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces

In the Donetsk region, pilots of the 59th Separate Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces used an FPV drone to destroy a Russian Mi-28 helicopter. The information was confirmed by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign ‘Madjar’, who also published the corresponding video of the strike on the target.

According to the unit, the target was destroyed near the village of Kotliarivka. The video released by Brovdi demonstrates the moment of impact and confirms the effectiveness of using FPV drones in modern tactics.

On September 2, the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that the 20th Regiment of Unmanned Systems ‘K-2’ and the ‘Birds of Madjar’ Brigade completed their transfer from the Ground Forces to the units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Context of the Reorganization and Operational Implications

This reorganization aims to strengthen the operational use of drones, improve coordination between units, and expand the ability to strike air targets through specialized formations.

Analysts emphasize that FPV drones complement reconnaissance and strike capabilities, enabling faster responses to changes on the front and effective cooperation with other defense forces.

Overall, the events indicate the growing role of the Unmanned Systems Forces in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strategy and underscore the importance of integrating new units to enhance mobility and resilience on the battlefield.
