The Ukrainian national wrestling team won a bronze medal on the fifth day of the finals of the U23 World Wrestling Championship 2025 in Novi Sad, Serbia, from October 20 to 27. At this stage, the competitors competed in women’s freestyle wrestling.
The day’s sole medalist was Oleksandra Rybak in the 65 kg weight category. Her path to bronze began with a victory over Italian Bianca Contrafatto (10:0) in the Round of 16, and in the quarterfinal she confidently defeated German Vanya Hersak-Peres (11:0).
In the semifinal Rybak lost to Chinese Yuki Rao (5:6) and dropped into the bronze medal bout, where she faced Uzbek Muhaijo Narzilloeva. The Ukrainian won with a score of 10:0, earning the team’s second medal in women’s freestyle wrestling.
The day before, Ukraine’s Aida Kerimova had already stood out – bronze in the 50 kg weight category became the Ukrainian team’s first medal at the tournament.
As for the other participants, Albina Rilya in the 55 kg category earned a consolation match, but did not secure bronze, finishing the tournament in fifth place. Iryna Bondar in the 62 kg weight category advanced to the final of her weight class, securing another medal for the team, while Natalia Klivchutska in the 53 kg will contest a bronze bout.
Among the men, the chance for a medal continued: Ivan Chornoguz in the 92 kg category advanced to the bronze final.
After five days, Ukraine sits second in the medal table with six medals, trailing Iran. The team has two medals of each kind.

Bronze: Aida Kerimova (up to 50 kg, women’s freestyle wrestling), Oleksandra Rybak (up to 65 kg, women’s freestyle wrestling).
