Unstable Frontline and Drone Challenges on Lyman Direction in Donetsk

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

There is no clearly defined front line on the Lyman direction in the Donetsk region. This sector is divided into zones of control, and the situation remains dynamic. These details were disclosed by Viktor Tregubov, head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Operation, during a broadcast on October 26.

The Lyman direction runs in the northern part of the Donetsk region. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, yesterday on this section of the front there were 12 attacks by the Russian side near Grekivka, Seredne, Novoselivka, Zarichne, Torske, as well as in the directions of Drobyshivske and Korova Yar.

Dynamic frontline situation

According to Viktor Tregubov, active and unstable fighting continues in the Lyman direction.

The situation, I would say, is unstable. On one side there are examples of infiltration of attacks from the Ukrainian side, while the Russians do not abandon their attempts. Therefore there isn’t even a line there – it’s more like zones of control

– Viktor Tregubov

The Lyman direction is located near the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration. On DeepStateMap maps, data about events in this sector are recorded, but experts note that the situation there is extremely dynamic.

People who serve there complain that on the same Deep State maps they are not depicted quite correctly, because the situation is too dynamic

– Spokesperson for the JFO

The goal of the Russian army in the Lyman direction is to advance enough to threaten the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration from the north and east, Viktor Tregubov said.

Logistics on this stretch of the front are complicated by drones. According to Tregubov, the situation is challenging for both sides: large “kill zones,” supply problems, and active drone activity raise risks for transport and logistical routes. Drones fly over long distances, the sky above both sides is saturated with unmanned aircraft, which means both countries face logistical difficulties – the Russians with supplies, the Ukrainians with drones being flown toward transport moving into cities.

Information about developments in Donbas can be obtained from various sources, as the situation on the Lyman direction changes rapidly depending on the actions of both sides.
