Zakarpattia Center Denies Student Detainment Claims After Military Check

As reported by Transcarpathian Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support

The Zakarpattia Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support officially denied information about the detention of students of the Zakarpattia Hungarian Institute named after Ferenc Rákóczi II in Berehove. An official statement on this topic was published on November 6 on the page of the Zakarpattia Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.

Earlier, the public organization “Society of Hungarian Culture of Zakarpattia” noted that three students and a faculty member of the institute visited Berehove District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support on November 4 to update their personal data, and after that they were not released. The statement also said that the center’s actions are illegal.

Official position and consequences

On his Facebook page, Peter Szijjarto noted that, thanks to their support, the students were released.

“We continually maintain contact with the Hungarian Cultural Association of Zakarpattia and university leadership; in this regard, the Ukrainian laws are clear: these students have been released from classification. The Ukrainian authorities have finally released all the students by evening to go home, which is good news, while also drawing attention to the importance of peace”

The Zakarpattia Regional Center for Recruitment and Social Support stated in a message that the information published by the public organization does not reflect reality.

“Indeed, three students and one faculty member at this educational institution arrived independently at the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support in Berehove with previously issued summons. During the data update, it turned out that three of them had not passed the Military Medical Commission. Information about any “detention” is false and manipulative.”

After completing the Military Medical Commission and updating their personal data, all men in Ukraine left the Center’s premises.
