Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, held important talks with Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, during which they discussed support for the Ukrainian army and defense cooperation. The head of state shared this information on his Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy noted that the conversation focused on supporting the army, developing defense cooperation, and domestic weapons production in Ukraine. He also emphasized that the discussion was “very substantive” and concentrated on practical aspects, including coordination with the United States.
The President of Ukraine reported that work is ongoing within the framework of the “coalition of the willing” initiative, which involves uniting the efforts of several countries to support Ukraine and promote a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
In early March, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced cooperation between the United Kingdom and France with Kyiv in developing a peace plan that will be presented to Washington. Following Zelenskyy’s meeting with Macron, agreements were reached on further steps, and Starmer noted that one or two more countries might join this initiative.
On March 15, an online meeting of the “coalition of the willing” took place, attended by about 25 world leaders, including representatives from the EU, NATO, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. President Zelenskyy also joined this discussion, promising that another partners’ meeting in support of Ukraine will take place soon.
The head of state emphasized the importance of the regularity of such meetings, which have already become “almost weekly.” According to Bloomberg, the United Kingdom and France are working on a plan aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s position in upcoming negotiations to end the war.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa reported that between 10 and 12 countries are ready to join the “coalition of the willing” in various formats, indicating broad international support for Ukraine during this difficult time.
