in another snub of laws, the Ukrainian president targets Ukrainian businessmen with sanctions.

The Ukrainian presidential order sanctioning two businessmen Dmytro Firtash and Pavlo Fuks was a clear violation of the Ukrainian law ‘On Sanctions’ (art.1).

The law used by National Security and Defense Council for action against the businessmen just doesn’t have any provisions that allow  sanctioning Ukrainian citizens and their entities.

By targeting Ukrainians with sanctions, Volodymyr Zelensky blatantly disregarded this law that says sanctions can be used against other countries, foreigners and  foreign legal entities, entities controlled by foreign nationals, statesless  persons, and persons involved in terrorist activities.

The sanctioning order of the state  security council provides no legal reasoning why such action was taken against the men who were born in Ukraine and have its full citizenship.

The orders also fails to list litigation records that could prove the two sanctioned persons earlier faced any terrorism charges.

Both Dmytro Firtash and Pavlo Fuks dismissed the claims.
