In his interview to ‘Pershyi Dilovyi’ TV channel, Volodymyr Taftay who heads the Agency announced the ‘ambitious’ plans for the next five years.
According to the plan, Ukraine is set to put into orbit its own space ‘group’ of satellites, build a cosmodrome, and join the European Space agency.
The Agency is looking to use the satellites imagery for zoning and prevention of natural disasters.
Volodymyr Taftay informed that Ukraine is now testing a new satellite ‘Sich 2-30’ that is scheduled to be launched in December 2021.
‘[..it can help prevent] illegal logging practices in forests, illegal mining practices, fires thanks to the fast processing of satellite images when the problem only evolves,’ said Trofimov.
The program will need 15 billion hryvnas with 3 billion to be allotted yearly. Apart from the state funding, it plans to have private investments.
