‘Bukvy’ continues the count of president’s violations of the Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
Speaking Russian, the head of the state violated the provisions of Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
The issue of the mandatory use of the Ukrainian language by public authorities was the subject of consideration by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in case № 1-6 / 99.
The CCU concluded that the provision of Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine, according to which ‘the state language in Ukraine is the Ukrainian language’, means that public authorities must use in exercising power only the Ukrainian language.
The verdict of Constitutional Court is mandatory, final and cannot be appealed.
Therefore, Zelensky’s public speeches in the Russian language is a violation of Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
