At least 2 people were injured and 35 more had to be evacuated after shrapnel from an artillery shell struck a 12-story residential building in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district; the shrapnel destroyed the building’s top floor and ignited a fire, according to the State Emergency Service.


The attack, which happened at 6:16 am on Wednesday, also damaged a 9-story building next door. By 7:45 am, rescue teams had extinguished the fire but are still frantically working to rescue people trapped inside.
